On Sunday, April 26, Dr. Donald McClelland led The Metropolitan Society of Natural Historians on a guided walk through Central Park, teaching us about the trees and herbaceous plants of the park. With over 42 people in attendance, this was our largest event yet! We learned which species are native/not native, their latin names and the useful characteristics for identifying them. Dr. McClelland is a substitute assistant professor in the Department of Natural Sciences at Baruch College. He earned his A.A. and B.A. from Bard College and did his M.Phil. and Ph.D. at the City University of New York in conjunction with The New York Botanical Garden.
