Please join us for our next event, Tour of Natural History Illustrations & Paintings at the Arader Galleries with Michael Harper on Saturday, November 14 at 1 PM.

EVENT DESCRIPTION: Please join us for a tour of the Arader Galleries where we will see natural history illustrations and paintings and learn about the artists behind them.

About the Arader Galleries: Founded in 1971 by Graham Arader, Arader Galleries specializing in rare maps, historical prints, works on paper, and natural history illustration dating primarily from the 16th through 19th centuries. With two locations on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the gallery is renowned for its extensive collection of historically significant works that illuminate the history of exploration, science, art, and cartography.

Michael Harper is an art historian and Gallery Director at Arader Galleries in New York, where he loves giving tours on the historical works on paper, rare maps, and natural history prints. He holds a BA and MA in History of Art from Johns Hopkins University, where his research focused on Italian Futurism, modernism, and the relationship between art and photography. Outside the gallery, Michael is a practicing artist with a particular interest in printmaking, the historical avant-garde, and the ways art reflects and challenges our understanding of the modern world.
