Saturday, July 25: Dragonfly Nature Walk with Julia Amoroso

Please join us for Dragonfly Nature Walk with invertebrate biologist Julia Amoroso on Saturday, July 25 @ 4:30 PM in Prospect Park.

RESERVATIONS: This event is FREE! However, reservations are required to attend. Please RSVP by sending an email to metropolitannaturalhistory@gmail.com. NB: Facebook and Meetup ''attendance" will NOT be considered as a reservation. 

EVENT DESCRIPTION: We will take a leisurely walk through Prospect Park to learn about the ecology and evolution of dragonflies and their relatives as well as their importance in urban areas and our ecosystem. 

LOCATION: The event will take place at Prospect Park. Once your reservation is confirmed, details on the meeting point will be emailed to you. 

Julia Amoroso is a Ph.D. student at the American Museum of Natural History and Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She seeks to understand how invertebrate biodiversity is structured on both evolutionary and ecological scales. She is particularly interested in how patterns of invertebrate biodiversity reflect urban socio-ecological heterogeneity and the consequences of these patterns on ecosystem functioning. Her research seeks to integrate participatory science and next-generation genomic methods to answer these questions.
